• The latest update to Ofcom’s Connected Nations report stated that in May 2019 full‑fibre coverage had reached 8% of the UK population, with just under 2.5 million premises passed — an increase of around 400,000 since the start of 2019.

The coverage is one percentage point higher than the last report, published four months earlier. Ofcom noted that ultrafast broadband coverage, which would include Openreach’s G.fast service and much of the Virgin Media cable footprint as well as FTTP, was up one percentage point to 54% compared to the beginning of 2019. The proportion of UK properties unable to achieve download speeds of 10Mbps or more was unchanged at 2%.
