EE is to offer new and existing pay‑monthly mobile and tablet customers a free six‑month subscription to BritBox, with inclusive data, from mid‑March 2020. After the six‑month promotional period ends, customers can access the subscription-based streaming service from national linear broadcasters BBC and ITV, for £5.99 per month charged directly through their EE bill. On the launch of the new streaming service in November 2019, BT was named as a partner that would “create a range of products and offers” featuring the offering (BTwatch, #308), in a partnership expected to encompass promotions across all of BT’s retail brands, with EE the service’s exclusive mobile partner. However, the new service still remains notably absent from the reinvigorated BT TV offering (see separate report). EE now offers its pay‑monthly and tablet customers free access to premium subscription packages including BT Sport, Apple Music, Apple News+, and MTV Play for up to six months through its Entertainment on EE bundle (purported to be worth up to £220 per-year), alongside its range of Swappable Benefits (BTwatch, #305).
