Vodafone Ireland (VfIr) partnered with wireless infrastructure operator Shared Access to bring 5G connectivity to Dublin’s AvivaStadium. Shared Access, which has a track record of leasing space to mobile network operators at sports venues, said the project made the Aviva Stadium the first 5G‑connected venue in Ireland. The deployment marks an upgrade from VfIr’s 2016 connectivity drive at the stadium, which saw 20 kilometres of wiring and 259 antennae installed for 3G and 4G network access (Vodafonewatch, #145). A spokesperson said that VfIr will continue to “work closely” with Shared Access and Aviva Stadium management in the coming months.
