T‑Systems partnered with German automation group KUKA to deliver digital solution packages for small‑ and medium‑size enterprises (SME).

The agreement targets the manufacturing industry by offering digitalisation through the deployment of robotics and software that connects otherwise analogue machines, from small production cells to complete production lines. KUKA will provide the robotics and automation side, both hardware and software, while T‑Sys adds its systems integration and IT services experience. The packages will form part of the T‑Sys Edge Services portfolio.

T‑Sys describes the Edge Services proposition as a selection of services and products that are configurable for individual SME requirements, and delivered in an integrated, managed package. The partnership with KUKA now adds “safe and tailor‑made automation solutions” to that product portfolio, according to Frank Strecker, Senior Vice-President, Public Cloud Managed Services at T‑Sys.

DT’s Industrial Internet proposition has grown in recent years with an increased focus on private networks for enterprise and industry.
