A live virtual reality (VR) demonstration, conducted by BT in association with Glasgow City Council and the University of Glasgow, was presented to Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at the Scotland 5G Centre during January 2020. Performed during a meeting between the First Minister and BT Chief Executive Philp Jansen, the live VR simulation saw researchers from BT and the University of Glasgow demonstrate the use of 5G technology as a tool in education and manufacturing. The Scotland 5G Centre added that other commercial applications for the technology include agriculture, aquafarming, healthcare, leisure and tourism, and sustainable energy, and that it was “now working with organisations across Scotland and beyond to help deliver these applications”.
