Midland Communications Distribution, a BT channel partner and minority investment, claimed to be “strengthening” its financial and operational relationship with the Group. In its latest accounts filing, the business — which is 35%‑owned by BT — said it had widened its focus from marketing EE products and services to those of BT during the period covered (the year to 31 March 2019). It added that it had further developed its JEM fulfilment portal, an enabler for the network of independent resellers through which it markets Group mobile services to Midlands-based businesses. Upgrades included the addition of “reporting and retention tools for partners, to facilitate the continued drive for low customer churn”. The year saw Midland Communications’ turnover increase 1.7%, to £22.6m, aided by what it called a “buoyant and competitive market”. Profit came in at £1.67m, up 6.1%. Areas of strategic focus included: staff development, partner recruitment (amid consolidation and convergence), and customer retention.
