A limited number of BT Mobile customers were invited to participate in a Wi‑Fi trial on the London Underground. The trial will enable selected customers to connect to the Wi‑Fi network deployed by Virgin Media in 260 of the 270 Underground stations, which can already be accessed by EE, Telefónica UK, Three UK, and Vodafone UK customers. The move comes a few weeks after EE joined Transport for London’s 4G trial, which aims to bring 4G coverage to some underground tunnels by mid‑2020 (BTwatch, #309).
