BT extended its 5G mobile offering to all customers, reversing an earlier decision to limit the high‑speed service to premium Halo packages. The operator is now offering mobile‑only plans starting at £45 per-month, but with various bonuses for existing BTHalo customers. The move appears an effort to keep BT Mobile apace with EE, as well as with competitors Telefónica UK and Vodafone UK — both of which have widely available 5G plans. Vodafone extended its 5G service to pay‑as‑you‑go customers in mid‑February 2020, shortly after BT Mobile’s move. 5G services were a key part of the fanfare around Halo’s launch in November 2019 (BTwatch, #307).
