Vodafone UK (VfUK) launched a suite of Internet of Things (IoT) smart surveillance solutions, called Smart Vision. The “5G‑ready” offerings, which operate via VfUK’s IoT network, were developed in partnership with smart surveillance provider Digital Barriers. Purported benefits include: video streaming at bandwidth as low as 9Kbps, compared with other cameras that require 600Kbps–1.5Mbps; secure video streaming with reduced risk of cyberattacks; and the ability to disable devices. The first products to be released were the Bodyworn Vision camera and City Vision surveillance solution. Bodyworn Vision enables frontline operators to record, stream, and retrieve high‑definition (HD) footage. The City Vision solution is a connected digital encoder that can be fitted to an organisation’s existing surveillance system to capture footage in HD and stream live incidents.
