Cyta Greece was brought into the VfGr fold after the OpCo agreed to buy the loss-making Greek telecoms side line of Cypriot incumbent Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta Hellas) in January 2018 (Vodafonewatch, #161).

The merger of the two operators was officially completed on 1 April 2019. Cyta Greece only has about 40,000 subscribers, versus VfGr’s 5.5 million.
