Vodafone Germany (VfD) flagged a deal to equip Total service stations in Germany with 5G technology, supported by the OpCo’s Gigacube 5G router and network-slicing techniques. VfD explained that the router will transmit data to an intelligent network distributor, which will divide the available network capacity into small sub‑networks and make it available for individual digital services. The system will initially be tested at two stations, located in Düsseldorf and Erfurt. “The possibility of reserving bandwidths for special customer groups or services opens up whole new areas of application for our business customers”, said Thomas Strauß, Director of Service Stations at Total Deutschland.
