Vodafone Business flagged a seven‑year agreement with budget airline Ryanair. The unit will be Ryanair’s technology communications partner in Europe, supporting 300 sites and 153 million passengers across 40 countries. Through the new deal, which extends an existing relationship between the two businesses (Vodafonewatch, #133 and passim), Vodafone Business will provide the airline with cloud, Internetof Things (IoT), software-defined wide area network, security, and unified communications services.

The operator said that up to 95% of Ryanair’s telecoms will be managed directly by Vodafone Business, including the hosting of infrastructure that maintains the airline’s core business processes. It added that its Vodafone Business Connected Airport solution will enable the Ireland-based airline to connect a new airport or site in as little as ten days, and that Ryanair’s aircrew currently uses 20,000 Vodafone Business IoT connections to connect their tablets and handheld devices.

In early‑2015, Vodafone Ireland’s business division agreed a deal with Ryanair to provide it with an end‑to-end bespoke solution across the 189 locations within its flight network.
