US telecoms software and services player Amdocs secured a new contract with VodafoneZiggo (VfZ), this time for the provision of network functions virtualisation (NFV) technology to support enterprise customers as they move to the cloud. Amdocs, a long‑standing Group technology partner, said the solution — comprising its NFVOrchestrator and Generic Virtual Network Function Manager applications — will enable VfZ clients to “design, deploy, and monitor virtual cloud networks on‑demand”. In essence, Amdocs’ solution will “handle the automation of VfZ’s service lifecycle management”. Amdocs has also been a key player in the consolidation of VfZ’s two constituent back offices, having been tasked with consolidating four major IT platforms into one after the merger that created the joint venture (Vodafonewatch, #174 and passim).
