- Telefónica UK (O2 UK) has fallen in line with the rest of the market and added unlimited tariffs at the high end of its contract pricing.
O2 UK is offering SIM-only contract customers unlimited 4G data plans priced from £33 per month on an 18-month tariff, or from £35 per month on a twelve-month plan. The unlimited packages are also available for a range of 5G-ready devices. O2 UK recently confirmed the launch of its initial 5G services in six locations from October 2019 (Telefónicawatch, #136).
Unlimited data tariffs have also been made available as part of O2’s Family Plan, as well as its O2 Open discount scheme for business customers’ employees and O2 Students bundle. The operator added that subscribers of its O2 Custom Plans, which give users the ability to define the upfront payment for their devices with the choice to spread the remaining interest-free payments over three-36 months (Telefónicawatch, #129), can upgrade to its Unlimited Data plans from 4 October 2019.
Rival Vodafone UK introduced unlimited 5G tariffs in July 2019 (Vodafonewatch, #177), while BT Group mobile subsidiary EE unveiled a range of unlimited plans for 4G and 5G contract customers at the end of August 2019 (BTwatch, #306).
