5TONIC, the research and development laboratory co‑germinated by Telefónica Group and IMDEA Networks Institute, presented a 5G‑enabled emergency services solution that aims to reduce incident response times to increase the chances of survival. The solution comes from a partnership between the 5TONIC lab, Madrid emergency services system SAMUR‑PC, and the Carlos III University of Madrid, and was developed under the auspices of a 5G‑TRANSFORMER European Union innovation project. It enables first‑responders to see in real‑time the patient’s medical data via augmented reality glasses using 5G edge compute technology. Telefónica and IMDEA  confirmed the testbeds participation in the 5G‑TRANSFORMER project, committing to the development of low‑latency applications for sectors including health and emergency services (Telefónicawatch, #132).
