2023 is pivotal year for Rakuten’s telecom software spinout, now anchored on ‘Mobile as a Software’.

  • CEO Tareq Amin is “very disappointed” in brownfield progress, but “extremely optimistic” about seeing a production open RAN rollout this year.
  • Vendor sees FUD clearing but common understanding building around software-based mobile networks.
  • Vendor has now confirmed UK partnership with government and domestic rival NTT DOCOMO. 
  • Q4/FY results due tomorrow, more Euro news at MWC later this month.
