T‑Systems (T‑Sys) flagged involvement in creation of a new data analytics platform for the European Central Bank (ECB). The unit said it had secured a five‑year contract to refresh analytics facilities for the ECB’s Statistical Production and Compilation Environment, which gathers and analyses data to support the bank’s policy-making and supervisory functions. T‑Sys’s solution will draw on the Group’s data‑sharing-focused Telekom Data Intelligence Hub, launched in 2018 — as well as Cloudera’s Data Science Workbench technology, expanding its long-running relationship with T‑Sys on data-focused engagements and products (Deutsche Telekomwatch, #72, #73, and passim). Ultra Tendency, a big data-focused systems integrator, will work with T‑Sys as “implementation partner”. Through the project, the Frankfurt-based ECB is said to be seeking to up its “data centricity” and “achieve more technology integration” between platforms — a common headache for organisations working to extract more value from data. Notable was T‑Sys’s presentation of the project as delivering “advanced European data analytics” for the ECB.
