Deutsche Telekom (DT) selected US‑based Vlocity’s Communications Cloud solution to roll out software with “configure‑price‑quote” (CPQ) capabilities across Europe. Sales staff from various NatCos will use the CPQ solution to streamline procurement with business‑to-business (B2B) customers and partners. Cosmote Greece was flagged as the first business to try it out, and plans eventually to make it available to 350 sales staff. The project’s aim is to help simplify buying experiences and accelerate time‑to-market, thus increasing revenue. “We consider the selected cloud software as the best configure‑price-quote solution for B2B across our [European] footprint”, said Guido Menzel, Senior Vice‑President of Technology, Europe, at DT. DT’s hook‑up with Vlocity builds on the Group’s long-standing relationship with customer relationship management software provider Salesforce.com (Deutsche Telekomwatch, #29 and passim). Salesforce Ventures is a prominent investor in Vlocity. In July 2014, T‑Systems struck a strategic agreement with Salesforce.com, giving it ‘preferred sales partner’ status in Germany for the supplier’s CRM cloud services (Deutsche Telekomwatch, #33).
